Mold Remediation
Mold is a complicated issue. There are five general principles for mold remediation:
- Provide for the health and safety of workers and occupants
- Document the conditions and work processes
- Control the contaminant at its source
- Physically remove the contamination (source removal)
- Correct the moisture problem to prevent re-contamination
So, remediators must be careful to:
- Contain the area
- Create negative pressure using Air Filtration Devices
- Have an environmental consultant sample, evaluate, and advise
- HEPA vacuum and clean all areas with an appropriate detergent
- Isolate, remove, and properly dispose of heavily contaminated materials
- HEPA vacuum exposed pockets
- Use procedures outlined in IICRC S500 to dry
In short, the IICRC S520 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Mold Remediation must be followed.

Mold spores are tiny, but there is power in numbers. Don't let mold take advantage of your home; a small problem can escalate into a full-blown disaster that can be detrimental not only to your home, but to the health of its inhabitants. Call Tus Group at 703-481-1261 for mold problems, so that we can eliminate the spores and protect your family from future attacks. A service call fee is charged for water damage restoration and mold remediation services. This fee will be waived if you book the restoration or remediation job with us.
